Switzerland supports Vietnam to develop eco-industrial parks
Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Swiss Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research have just signed a memorandum of understanding over eco-industrial park development in Vietnam.
The first phase of the project was carried out by the MPI and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in 2014-2019 with $4.55 million of non-refundable aid from the the Swiss State Secretatiat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and has just ended on last June, contributing to building a legal basis for EIP and turning normal industrial zones into EIZs.
The ultimate goal of the second phase of the project, which enjoys $1.7 million in funding from the SECO is to improve the economic, environmental, and social performance of industries and to provide benefits for the community and the country as a whole.
